Prep tofu the right way to make a delicious tofu dish!

Tofu is one of the most popular protein sources for vegans and vegetarians, but its moisture can pose a hurdle in making a dish like stir fry which needs a nice crunchy texture to taste good. If you don’t prep tofu the right way, it will release its moisture once heated and make all its companions soggy…

Luckily, removing moisture from tofu only takes 3 easy steps!

Step 1: wrap tofu with kitchen paper towel.

Step 2: place the wrapped tofu on colander and place it on a large bowl or dish to catch water.

Step 3: Place small dish on top of the wrapped tofu and place your favorite heavy object on the dish.

That’s it! Tofu will be pressed, releasing all the moisture.

While the steps are easy, this method takes time (1-2 hours for pressing…). So if you can’t wait that long, there is an easier method. After you wrap the tofu with paper towel, place the wrapped tofu on a microwave-safe dish and microwave for 2 min (500W). The result will not be as thorough as pressing, and it makes the tofu hot so it’s not the best method for making certain dishes like tofu salad, but it still works just fine for making a regular stir fry:)
